Calliope Bavelas, 84, of Frederick Living in Frederick, PA, passed peacefully in her sleep on August 27, 2017.
She is survived by her children Katrina Trendell of Myrtle Neach, SC, Arthur Bavelas of New York, NY, Aphrodite Kunkle of Limerick, PA, and her sister, Aphrodite Devolites of Phoenix, AZ, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Anna Tovoularis of Kittery, ME.
Calliope was a skilled administrative clerk at The Institutes of Malvern, PA for over 15 years. Upon retirement, she focused her energies on volunteering. She passionately and enthusiastically gave her time to St. Sophia’s in Jeffersonville, PA and Meals On Wheels in Pottstown, PA. As a final act of care, Calliope spent her time caring for others in the Frederick Living Aspen Memory Unit where she eventually resided.
Throughout her life, Calliope was an active member of a bowling team and would spend many hours cooking Greek meals for her family. She was a lover of assembling puzzles with her grandchildren, as well as a master jax player. She was talented at cross stitching and knitting.
To celebrate her life, serives will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Bennington Congregational Church, Francestown Road, Bennington, NH. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to the Frederick Living Resident Benevolent Care Fund, PO Box 498, Frederick, PA 19435.
