Karen Marion Adams, 75, of Chalfont, PA, passed away on October 30, 2020. She was the loving wife of Milt Adams for 47 years. She will forever be remembered as a doting mother to Brett and Jill. She also spoiled her five grandchildren with copious amounts of love and always enjoyed handing out some cash from her “stash.” She was also the aunt and Tanta of 10 amazing nieces and nephews.
Born in Pottstown, PA, on March 23, 1945, Karen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Doris (Gelfond) Marion.
Karen graduated from Penn State with a degree in elementary education and two lifelong friends in Bob and Joan Segal. After raising her two young children, she got back into teaching and left an indelible mark on students and other teachers, as evidenced by the outpouring of thanks she received from former students and coworkers. Her patience and compassion were the perfect combination to help kids grow personally and academically. She loved teaching. But maybe not as much as the beach!
Karen was best known for her ability to accept people unconditionally and spread love and joy wherever she went. For example, she would sit at a blackjack table and talk up the most intense characters until they couldn’t help but fall under her spell and loosen up and enjoy the moment.
Her friendships were pure and unhindered by judgment, and therefore lasted a lifetime. You could always come to her for a sounding board if you were having problems. She would always ask questions and remember the answers for the next time she saw you.
One of her passions was playing games. If you spent more than a half hour with her, you probably ended up playing games like LCR, Four Kings, or Boggle. She also had her kibitzing group of mahjong players who were so good at throwing down “5 bams” and “3 dots.” But, her favorite games were with large groups of family and friends where she would always end up crying with laughter, usually at the expense of something silly Milt did. The game nights during vacations in Avalon, NJ with some of her very best friends were legendary for the amounts of happy tears shed.
Karen was always a bright light in a darkening sky and will be missed immensely. She taught her family how to love and care for one another. She lives in everything we do and the decisions we make.
In addition to her husband, Karen is lovingly remembered by her son, Brett Adams, husband of Jennifer; her daughter, Jill (Adams) Duffy, wife of James; her grandchildren, Morgan Adams, Benjamin Adams, Johanna Adams, Connor Duffy, and Charlotte Duffy; and her brother, Mitchell Marion, husband of Rebecca.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Susan (Marion) Shapiro, wife of the late Burt Shapiro.
