Dear Milt, Brett and Jill and the entire extended family that loved Karen, We feel a great loss and share your sorrow. But Karen was and will always be remembered for her smile, her laugh and her joy of life. Everyone who knew her will carry that happy memory forward throughout our lives. Although we were usually living in some far off land, we cherished the opportunities when we were back in the States to see Karen and Milt - usually at some crazy party orchestrated by Joan and Bob. Particularly, we wish Milt, Brett and Jill a peaceful journey cherishing the memories and all the good that Karen spread to her many friends, her colleagues and her beloved students, With love, Jack, Karen and Jehan Segal

Dear Milt and family, Karen mentored me when I moved to fifth grade; I could tell immediately that she loved teaching and the students she nurtured over the years. Karen’s smiling eyes hid her mischievous nature. The consummate lady, Karen could glide effortlessly down the hall with her mug of tea. What I remember most, is the pride that Karen took in her family.

Milt, Brett, Jill, and families, so very sorry for Karen’s passing. Karen was such a good, kind person and a loved friend. She was especially close to Anne but I have many great memories. I remember all the games that she introduced us to, with patience I must add. Many times she tried to teach me Blackjack, I never quite learned. Karen and I always talked about books and she would read what I recommended and I would read her favorites. We also shared our mutual interest in puzzles and games. I will miss the New Years Eves down the shore and will miss Karen.

Karen was such a wonderful friend. For the last fifty years we enjoyed being with her, laughing with her, playing games with her and eating her delicious food. There is an empty space that no one else will be able to fill. Of course it goes without saying being in Avalon with her was always the best of times. I'm going to especially miss doing puzzles on the beach and working on our tans. She always discovered the best new games and made sure to introduce them to us. We're going to miss her always. Karen I will always miss you. You have been a wonderful friend and a great person. You were always there to encourage me during my years substituting. We had wonderful New Year Eve celebrations and the fun we had in Tower Hill. You always remembered special times and dates of your loved ones and you always looked out for us. Today there is a hole in my heart. It will never heal. From our first meeting at Penn State, Karen has been a shining light in our lives. For 57 years we have been friends-real friends. Through good times and bad Karen was always the optimist who just knew that everything would work out for the better. She was always right. To list the laughs and hugs of our too short time together would not fit in this blog. A couple of things stand out. Her introducing us to some bald headed guy in Lansdale. Her Monday morning calls to Joan. At tailgates she would bring out the LCR die then gather friends and strangers to play. Great time for all. I know she enjoyed the games and tailgates as much as everyone. She could take a ribbing from me with a big laugh. She will be missed by everyone especially her beautiful family, her many friends and past students. She is especially missed by Joan and me.
