Francis Morba

Obituary of Francis Joseph Morba

Francis Joseph Morba, 86, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on June 25, 2022, at Pottstown Hospital. Always by his side was his loving wife, Dolores (Evanick) Morba, with whom he shared 62 beautiful years of marriage.

Born on November 23, 1935, and from Trenton, PA, Francis was the son of the late Joseph Kuczala Morba and Frances (Domasiewicz) Morba.

Francis, better known as Frank, graduated from Mahanoy Township High School in 1953, and worked for Stanley G. Flagg Co. in Stowe, PA, for 41 years. Over the years, Frank also worked at Mrs. Smith’s Pies during pumpkin seasons, Valley Forge Flag in Spring City, and was a Land Surveyor for McKinney. Francis later retired in 2008 from the Perkiomen Valley School District after 12 years as a custodian.

When Frank was young, he was told by the doctors that he wouldn’t live past 21 years old and not to have any children. With that news, he decided to live life to its fullest. He found love, got married, had a family, and proved them all wrong by living an additional 65 years. Frank was certainly stubborn that way, lol. Besides his family, Frank loved music and played the accordion since he was a little boy. When he moved to Pottstown, he joined the Johnny Haas Polka Band and was a member for several years before joining The Polka Express. Frank especially enjoyed playing band jobs with his own group, The Melody Kings. Frank also loved composing sheet music for various Polka band musicians. His other favorite hobbies included fishing and hunting, as well as entertaining the retiree crowd at McDonald’s during their “daily meetings.” He loved telling everyone he ever met his acclaimed math trick and enjoyed them wondering how he knew the final answer without them ever telling him their number. He always played the lottery with the hopes of someday winning big and sharing it with everyone he knew. He loved teasing people. He would either tell them that he was “going to write them up” or that they were “on his sh*t list,” then follow up with saying “but he wasn’t going to agitate anymore.” Francis was true to his namesake, St. Francis of Assisi, and absolutely loved animals. He was often found feeding and adoring any animal he encountered.

In addition to his wife, Francis is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sharon M. Oleski (Pottstown); his son, Jeffrey J. Morba (Pottstown); his grandchildren, Joseph Oleski and Jennifer Oleski (Royersford), and Ryan (& Lora) Morba (Douglassville); his great‑granddaughter, Taylor Morba; his sister, Josephine (& Edward) Alex (Florida); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Francis is predeceased by his sister, Agatha Barna.
